Peralta Trustees announced that Dr. Regina Stanback Stroud was selected as Peralta’s new chancellor on Sept. 25 after a closed session.

Stanback Stroud, who retired in April as president of Skyline College in San Bruno, was selected after a unanimous decision from the board, according to Trustee Nicky González Yuen.

“Sometimes the board doesn’t agree on stuff, and what was quite pleasant today was actually working shoulder-to-shoulder for the benefit of this district and unanimously agreeing on a new chancellor,” González Yuen said during the open session that followed the Board of Trustees closed meeting and candidate interviews.

Acting Chancellor Frances White announced her resignation on Sept. 19, with an official end date of Oct. 20.

According to Board Policy 2431, district members are required to perform a site visit to the candidate’s previous institution “as part of the overall evaluation process.”

During the Sept. 10 Board of Trustees meeting, members voted to temporarily waive Board Policy 2431 for the duration of their search, according to Donald Moore, District Academic Senate President.

Instead, the board is in the process of making reference calls.

Moore said that following the reference check, the board and Stanback Stroud will need to negotiate a contract and start date.
